This image depicts a close view of a patient’s penis, highlighting an abnormal cutaneous papular lesion located on the prepuce. At first, it was thought that this had resulted from a syphilis infection, but after a differential diagnosis, revealed that it had been caused by a Herpesviridae infection, specifically, the herpes simplex virus type-II (HSV-2).
