This was an interior view of the vaginal canal of a female patient, who had presented to a clinical setting with a vaginal infection involving the cervix, known as candidiasis, or moniliasis, which had been caused by the fungal organism, Candida albicans. Note the purulent discharge that had surrounded the cervix.
