This was an interior view of the vaginal canal of a female patient, who had presented to a clinical setting with a vaginal infection involving the cervix, known as candidiasis, or moniliasis, which had been caused by the fungal organism, Candida albicans. Note the purulent discharge that had surrounded the cervix, and the cervical os.
