This Petri dish culture plate contained a growth medium of thiosulfate-citrate-bile salts-sucrose agar (TCBS) agar, which had been inoculated with a culture of Vibrio parahaemolyticus bacteria, and which had given rise to numerous bacterial colonies. TCBS agar is a selective medium used specifically cultivate Vibrio spp. organisms.
