This patient presented with what turned out to be a case of tinea pedis, or ringworm of the feet, that had been caused by the dermatophytic fungal organism, Trichophyton rubrum. Note the dry, scaly, cracked texture of the soles and distal toe tips, indicative of the characteristic symptomatology of this form of dermatophytosis.
