This transmission electron microscopic (TEM) image reveals some of the ultrastructural morphology exhibited by a number of echovirus type-6 virions. The sample had been pelleted, thereby, concentrating the viral particles prior to viewing under the microscope. The particles measured 18nm – 25nm in diameter, and contained a core of single-stranded RNA, which was surrounded by a naked protein capsid that exhibited a cubic icosahedral symmetry with no envelope.
