This image depicts a close view of the roof of a patient’s the oral cavity, which included the hard and soft palates, both of which were covered by a normal pink mucosal layer. However, you will notice the presence of a knobby protuberance in the midline of the hard palate known as a torus palatinus, a benign condition that usually develops in adulthood, and involves the formation of a bony outcropping in the palatal midline, and is on average, no more than 2cm in diameter.
