Caption:
This fundoscopic view of a human eye reveals the pathologic changes affecting the retina. Of note, are the areas of hyperpigmentation, and hypopigmentation, indicative of a condition known as salt-and-pepper retinopathy of rubella, acquired when this patient’s mother contracted rubella during her pregnancy. See PHIL 16450, for a fundoscopic view revealing even greater pigmentation in another case of congenital rubella retinopathy.
