This image was taken during an epidemiologic study in, and around, a Mid-Western turkey processing plant, due to the discovery of a number of cases of psittacosis involving the plant workers, caused by the bacterium, Chlamydophila psittaci, formerly known as Chlamydia psittaci, which can be transmitted from domesticated birds to humans.
