Caption:
This image depicts the left upper arm of a patient who had presented with a case of gonorrhea, which had given rise to the appearance of these randomly scattered solitary skin lesions, exhibiting areas of inflammation, and a central area of suppuration. Gonorrhea is caused by the bacterium, Neisseria gonorrhoeae, and if left untreated can enter the blood, thereby, spreading throughout the body. As is shown here, a fully systemic dissemination may manifest itself as skin lesions throughout the body.
