This photomicrograph depicted numerous normal fibroblasts in a stroma of an unknown tissue specimen. Normally found throughout the body, fibroblasts give rise to the structural framework around which animal tissues are built. This cell type is integral in the formation of collagen, which is the main constituent of connective tissue, and in the process of wound healing.
