This photomicrograph details the histopathology seen in a tissue sample extracted from the scalp of a patient with a form of tinea capitis known as tinea favosa, caused by the dermatophytic fungal organism, Trichophyton schoenleinii. In this case, you will note the numerous mycelia, arranged in small reproductive segments known as arthrospores.
