This image depicts a close view of a patient’s glans penis, revealing the presence of an erythematous lesion, that had been diagnosed as a case of erythroplasia of Queyrat, a form of squamous cell carcinoma in situ. Though the cause of erythroplasia of Queyrat is not known, in some cases it has been found to be associated with the human papilloma virus (HPV)-16, and is said to be a precursor to frank squamous cell carcinoma.
