This photomicrograph reveals the presence of Donovan bodies, or cellular inclusions in this tissue sample, confirming the diagnosis of granuloma inguinale, or Donovanosis, a genital ulcerative disease caused by the Gram-negative bacterium, Klebsiella granulomatis, formerly known as Calymmatobacterium granulomatis, and even earlier Donovania granulomatis.
