This photomicrograph of a Gram-stained specimen, revealed the presence of numerous Gram-negative, Pasteurella dagmatis bacteria. P. dagmatis had previously been known as Pasteurella “gas”, for in biochemical reactions involving glucose and other carbohydrates, these bacteria produce a small amount of gas.
