Description: Caption:
After an incubation period of 11-days, this Petri dish culture plate, which contained an unknown growth medium, was inoculated with the fungal organism, Verticillium cinnabarinum. Note the wooly appearance of this matured, golden colored colony. Characteristically, Verticillium spp. colonies are initially a white color, but as they mature, they become more yellow, to rust colored. This organism has been implicated as a cause for keratitis in humans.
