This 1977 image, depicts what was a training exercise that had taken place in Zaire, under the auspices of the Zaire International Commission on African Hemorrhagic Fever. In this particular view, a staged patient was entering a portable Vickers Isolation Unit dressed in a green hospital gown through a circular portal at one end of the unit. At his side stood a fellow healthcare practitioner who wore personal protective equipment (PPE), including a disposable gown, latex gloves, and a filtered respirator. In the background spectators stood by to watch the staged event.
