This postoperative anteroposterior (AP) chest x-ray revealed that the lower lobe of the left lung had undergone atelectasis, or collapse. Note how the heart and mediastinal region has moved into the region of the collapsed left lower lobe, a sign that the lobe had undergone a reduction in its normal size and shape.
