Caption:
This historic 1975 image was captured in a village in the Patna District of the Indian State of Bihar in Eastern India. In this particular scene, an Indian smallpox worker was in the process of conducting interviews, with a number of children who were in attendance at an outdoor village school. He was asking the children if any had seen active cases of smallpox. The image was captured by a Centers for Disease Control (CDC), Bureau of State Services staff member, during one of the smallpox immunization-related trips to that region of the world.
