Shepard, MD, who was internationally recognized for his work in leprosy, and Legionnaires’ disease research, and former Deputy Director of the National Center for Infectious Diseases, Dr, Joseph E. McDade. See PHIL 15809 and 15810, for more on these two giants in the field of public health.
