Caption:
This image depicts the neck region of a cow, revealing a large wheal, which had formed at the site at which, it had received a skin test. The test employed a substance referred to as coccidioidin, or spherulin, and is given in order to determine the presence of the Coccidioides antigen. This skin test will indicate whether or not the animal was exposed to the Coccidioides spp. fungal organism. In this case, the reaction seems to have produced a positive result. See PHIL 21893, for another view of this reaction site.
