Description: Caption:
This woman was seated in typical tropical forest in her West Indian homeland. Her left foot had been propped up on a pillow, and it exhibited extreme swelling due to what was a case of mycetoma, which had been caused by the fungal organism, Pseudallescheria boydii, formerly referred to as Petriellidium boydii, and Allescheria boydii. Note that with her left hand she held on to a cane, which she used as support, for her left side while ambulating. See PHIL 15751, for a view of this woman's living conditions.
