From 1970, this image depicts a sanitarian from what was the former Office of Occupational Health, who was in the process of making a routine check on the thermometers inside the power plant that serviced the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) physical plant. The CDC’s physical plant was, and still is located on the campus, which it serves on Clifton Road, in Atlanta, Georgia. This particular thermometer provided a reading of the water temperature inside the cooling water circuit, which kept the turbines cool during their production of power fed to the Roybal Campus facilities.
