The sole of this Indian man’s left foot exhibited pathologic changes associated with a case of lepromatous leprosy, which under the newer World Health Organization (WHO) standards, is classified as multibacillary (MB) leprosy. Of note, was the presence of an active ulcerative lesion on the plantar surface of his left great toe. This illness is caused by the bacterium, Mycobacterium leprae.
