This patient presented to a clinical setting with an inflammatory lesion on the outer left ear, or pinna, which having undergone a differential diagnosis, was determined to be the tuberculoid, paucibacillary form of leprosy, or Hansen’s disease. Leprosy is caused by the bacterium, Mycobacterium leprae. This tuberculoid form of leprosy is characterized by one or more solitary cutaneous lesions, which exhibit hypopigmentation, and anesthesia, due to the involvement of the peripheral nerves supplying the region, whereupon, the body’s own immune system attacks these nerves.
