Captured during the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) multistate meningitis outbreak investigation, this plate revealed the results of a susceptibility test to the antifungal drug, amphotericin B. The drug inhibited growth of the fungal organism, of the genus Exserohilum, evidenced by the clear area, where the amphotericin B had diffused into the medium, while elsewhere on the plate, where the amphotericin B had not diffused, the Exserohilum organisms were still growing.
