Description:This image depicts the penis of a patient in a clinical setting being treated for a case of balanoposthitis, which in this particular instance, had been attributed to this patient’s diabetic condition, and was therefore, labeled diabetic balanoposthitis, for the prepuce, and not just the glans penis was involved.
Though diabetes may be a cause for this disorder, balanitis, can also be caused by a fungal agent such as Candida spp., a bacteria, most commonly Streptococcus sp., or a viral pathogen such as herpes genitalis.
