Description:This image depicts the penis of a patient in a clinical setting being treated for a case of hemorrhagic balanitis, or more accurately, hemorrhagic balanoposthitis, for it involves the prepuce, or foreskin. Note the ulcerous lesions on the surface of the glans penis, as well as the foreskin.
Balanitis, can be caused by a fungal agent such as Candida spp., a bacteria, most commonly Streptococcus sp., or a viral pathogen such as herpes genitalis.
