Description:This is a side view of a typical light microscope with a substage condenser in place to focus the illumination beam.
The substage condenser, originated by Ernst Abbe, is used in controlling a microscope’s light source, through which the illumination beam is concentrated, and uniformly spread across the entire field of view.
