This illustration depicts a right lateral, or side view of a child’s head and neck. You’ll note the lesions on the temple and cheek regions due to the inflammatory skin disease known as impetigo, usually caused by Staphylococcus aureus bacteria, and sometimes group-A Streptococcus sp. bacteria as well.
