Caption:
This image depicts the left hand of a laboratorian placing a single, 15ml conical based centrifuge tube, into the tube holder of the centrifuge’s rotor. Spinning at a very fast speed, and using the sedimentation rates of the various tube contents, the components are forced to the bottom of the tube into separate layers based on each component’s sedimentation rate. Lighter components will settle high in the tube, i.e., closer to the top, and heavier components will end their excursion closer to the bottom of the tube, i.e., the conical tip.
