This graph entitled, Annual adult per capita cigarette consumption and major smoking and health events – United States, 1900-1998, and correlates how the trend in smoking was affected by health events. The smoking trend began its precipitous drop off right around the time of the 1st World Conference on Smoking and Health in 1967. The source of this data was derived from the U.S. Department of Agriculture, and the 1986 Surgeon General’s Report.
