Standing outside the edifice, this historic image depicts the son of a Pawapuri, or Pava, homeowner, who’d built a small temple in the name of his Jain religion. The Pawapuri is located in the Nalanda District in the Indian State of Bihar. The scenario was captured sometime in January, or February, 1975, by Centers for Disease Control (CDC), Bureau of State Services personnel, during a smallpox immunization tour.
