This photomicrograph of a wet mount vaginal smear specimen, revealed a number of normal epithelial cells that had lined the interior of the vaginal canal. Epithelial cells can be found throughout the body lining cavities, blood vessels, and covering the body’s surface, and are integral in the formation of many types of glands, including sweat glands, salivary glands, sebaceous glands to name a few.
