Description:Caption:
This image depicts a stethoscope lying atop a beige-colored countertop. Known as auscultation, this device enables a healthcare provider with a trained ear, to listen to sounds emanating from within the body from the body’s exterior. Sounds such as those created by the beating heart, movement of the bowels, and blood passing through the arteries, may all be heard if one places the sound sensitive end of the device upon the skin, over the respectively designated points.
