|Description:||This 1981 image depicts a virtual patient, who was actually a healthy participant in a practice activity, sitting up in a bed inside a Vicker’s patient-isolation unit. At this point in the exercise, the Vicker’s unit was being rolled out of a building, formerly located on the Centers for Disease Control’s (CDC) Roybal Campus, to an awaiting Intensive Care Unit transport vehicle. A Vicker’s patient-isolation unit would be used to transport critically-ill patients to nearby medical centers.|
The image was captured during a trial run of a patient taken from CDC to a nearby medical center. A doctor was administering care to the patient with supportive help from the Isolation Unit medical staff. See PHIL 14505 through 14529, for imagery documenting this practice emergent situational scenario.
