Caption:
This 1981 image depicts a virtual patient, who was actually a healthy participant in a practice activity, sitting up in a bed inside a Vickers patient-isolation unit. At this point in the exercise, the Vickers unit was being rolled out of a building, formerly located on the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, (CDC) Roybal Campus, to an awaiting Intensive Care Unit transport vehicle. A Vickers patient-isolation unit would be used to transport a critically ill patient to a nearby medical center. The image was captured during a trial run of a patient, who was transported from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) to a nearby medical center. A doctor was administering care to the patient with supportive help provided by the Isolation Unit medical staff. See PHIL 14505 through 14529, for imagery documenting this practice emergent situational scenario.
