This historic image was captured during a 1930’s California smallpox outbreak, and depicts a young girl named Donna Colby, and her dog, kneeling on the front porch of her wood-slatted quarantined home, located in a Los Angeles stockyard. Donna’s mother, Edna Colby, was standing inside the home behind a screen door, as she looked outside towards the photographer when the picture was taken.
