This image depicts an epidemiologist as he was collecting data related to a hantavirus outbreak in Paraguay, 1995. He was wearing headgear that allowed him to breathe filtered air, free of airborne hantavirus particles. He was in the process of bagging mouse traps containing mice, in a sealed plastic bag, which he’d take back to his laboratory, in order to record data related to this epidemiologic study.
