This was a Chesterfield cigarette advertisement, that was printed on the back of a 1953 Metropolitan Opera program. It featured legendary radio and television broadcaster and entertainer, Arthur Godfrey, while he was smoking a cigarette, and who later died of lung cancer. The ad touted the mildness of Chesterfield cigarettes, and presented a quote by Mr. Godfrey saying, “I’ve been saying it for 6 years now – and I’ll say it again,… much milder Chesterfield is best for me.”
