Description:This image depicts a young woman who had taken a bite out of a green Granny Smith apple, and was holding up the fruit enabling the bitten aspect to be made visible to the viewer. Apples are a terrific source of fiber, yielding 18% of one’s recommended daily allowance (RDA) of fiber, and offers 8% of one’s RDA for vitamin C.
The Granny Smith apple is available year round. Its flesh imparts a mouthwatering tartness, and displays a bright green coloration, as can be seen here. A Granny Smith that displays a pink blush, has a crisp bite, and a tangy flavor. Its tartness really comes through when baked and sauteed. Enjoy a Granny Smith out of hand, or in a salad.
