Description:Seated in a clinical setting during her physical examination, this image depicts a seated female patient who was in the process of having her body temperature analyzed by a physician using an orally-administered thermometer.
When using an orally-administered thermometer, under normal circumstances, human body temperature should read 36.8 ± 0.7°C, or 98.2 ± 1.3°F. The consistency of ones body temperature is truly an amazing phenomenon, especially when taking into consideration all the physiologic processes simultaneously taking place at any given moment. Therefore, an abnormality in this reading does not necessarily mean that there is a pathologic process taking place, but should call for further investigation in order to rule out any potential, or ongoing problems.
