Description:This image depicts a dish of Asian Snow Peas, the recipe to which may be downloaded by way of the link below. The ingredients include snow peas, sesame oil, carrots, water chestnuts, low-sodium chicken broth, low-sodium soy sauce, and a touch of cornstarch.

Snow peas, otherwise known as Chinese pea pods, and sugar snap peas are more often found fresh, but many companies are now selling them frozen. These peas are eaten raw, or cooked with the pod intact.
The Dietary Guidelines for Americans, 2010, released on January 31, 2011, emphasize three major goals for Americans:

- Balance calories with physical activity to manage weight

- Consume more of certain foods and nutrients such as fruits, vegetables, whole grains, fat-free and low-fat dairy products, and seafood

- Consume fewer foods with sodium (salt), saturated fats, trans fats, cholesterol, added sugars, and refined grains.
