Under a magnification of 80X, this hematoxylin-eosin-stained (H&E) photomicrograph depicts the cytoarchitectural changes found in a liver tissue specimen extracted from a viral hepatitis patient. In this particular view, you’ll note that there are some islets of intact parenchyma still visible in the midst of diffuse necrosis involving areas in the portal space and central vein. Also present, is a discrete lymphocytic infiltrate.
