Caption:
From the “Illustrated Manual for the Recognition and Diagnosis of Certain Animal Diseases”, published in 1982, by the Mexico-United States Commission for the Prevention of Foot and Mouth Disease, this image depicts a view of a sheep, displaying a crouched stance due to severe lameness brought on as a result of coronitis, an inflammation of the animal’s coronary bands, which surround each of the sheep’s hooves, and from which the hooves propagate. This condition was found to be due to a bluetongue (BT) infection.
