From the “Illustrated Manual for the Recognition and Diagnosis of Certain Animal Diseases”, published in 1982, by the Mexico-United States Commission for the Prevention of Foot and Mouth Disease, this photograph, taken during a necropsy, depicted a superior view of two bovine calf brains. On the left was a normal brain, including its normal sized cerebellum. On the right, was the brain of a calf affected by a bovine viral diarrhea (BVD) infection, in which case you could see the hypoplastic cerebellum, which was underdeveloped, and markedly smaller than normal.
