This image depicts the mucosal surface of the left interior cheek of a 67-year-old female patient, which was covered by an interlacing pattern of white, slightly-raised lines. A biopsy revealed that this lesion was due to a condition known as lichen planus, a skin disease characterized by an eruption of wide flat papules covered by a horny glazed film, marked by intense itching. This case involved the oral mucosal lining.
