This 1964 image depicted a Tehrani man, who was being treated for what was diagnosed as pemphigus vulgaris. He presented with a painful, long-standing intraoral lesions of 3-years duration. This was another view of PHIL 12570, revealing the lesions, which had manifested on the interior surface of this patient’s lower lip. See PHIL 12571 and 12573, for views depicting lesions on the patient’s inner left cheek, and 12572, revealing lesions involving his tongue. The patient also had painful lesions in the perineal region. The intraoral lesions were covered with a grayish-white membrane, which when peeled away, left a fiery red sore. These were preceded by mucosal eruptions, as were lesions elsewhere on his body.
