A closer view of PHIL 12481, this photograph depicts the colonial morphology displayed by Gram-negative Brucella suis bacteria, which was grown on a medium of MacConkey agar, for a 24 hour time period, at a temperature of 37°C. Also see PHIL 12482, for an additional close view of these bacterial colonies. Brucella spp. bacteria are pathogenic towards humans, and cause a disease known as brucellosis.
