This October 1975 photograph, depicted a view of a former Patuakhali District hospital, in the country of Bangladesh, which had been devastated by the deadly 1970 cyclone.

PHIL images 1191, 3258, 5664, and 12290 through 12367, were supplied by Dr. Michael Schwartz, and capture the epidemiologic-related activities undertaken by healthcare providers from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), World Health Organization (WHO), and local Bangladeshi healthcare workers, during their successful attempt to eradicate smallpox.
